JAWS & HYPERTENSION
Early diagnosis and treatment of sleep-related breathing disorders may make patients feel much better, (something anti-hypertensive drugs do not always do), and may reduce blood pressure and prevent the progression of renal (kidney) and cardiovascular (heart) damage as well.

Hypertension, known as high blood pressure, continues to be a leading cause of death. Most hypertension occurs for unknown reasons, and it is usually progressive. Dental jaw treatment can help with this problem and may one day be a chief means of therapy and prevention.

Oral devices (dental mouthpiece appliances) worn during sleep effectively help to keep the airway open at night. This helps to maintain proper oxygen levels in the blood, which then helps to reduce blood pressure.
